As the summer months approach, many of us are planning our vacations and those vacation plans may involve travelling on an airplane! But you might be wondering about travelling with vape devices or vape products, let me give you all the information you will need to know before travelling with vapes.

Airports and Vaping
Can I Vape At An Airport?
You cannot vape inside any Canadian airport terminals, as they are considered smoke/vape-free environments. If you need to use your vape device, you must use designated outdoor smoking/ vaping areas before security or after leaving the terminal.
What About Inside The Plane?
No, you cannot vape on any airplane in Canada.
Using or charging your vape devices is strictly prohibited, and if found doing so, you can face heavy fines or criminal charges.
It is recommended to check specific policies as they may have stricter rules, particularly for international flights.

How To Pack Your Vape For A Flight
Carry- On Or Checked Luggage?
- Carry-on Only: devices, spare batteries and chargers must stay in your carry-on, as if vape devices are placed in checked luggage, it may become a fire risk due to lithium batteries
- Turned Off: ensure that all vape devices are turned off and protected from accidental activation if your vape device is button activated
- Leak Prevention: cabin pressure can cause tanks to leak, it is recommended to empty them or seal them (in original packaging or in a bag) before flight
Restrictions
- Security Screening: you may need to remove your vape device from your bags for inspection
- E-liquids: e-liquids are subject to the 3-1-1 liquids rule (100mL or less per container) and should be placed in a clear, 1L sealed plastic bag
- Limits: some regulations allow up to 15 electronic devices (this includes vape devices) and 20 lithium batteries. It is best to check with your airline about limits they may have

International And Local Regulations
- Destination Laws: research your destination and if vaping and vape devices are legal where you are travelling
- Legal Age: be prepared to show ID, as airlines enforce the minimum legal age for vaping and having a vape device (ex. age of 21 in the United States of America, age of 18 in the majority of Europe; including UK, France and Germany)

Zero Nicotine Vapes
Laws for zero-nicotine vape devices and e-liquids can vary depending on country and region, it is best to research your destination regarding zero-nicotine vaping devices and e-liquids.

Long Flight Tips
Flights can be very long, especially if they are to an international country, here are some tips to handle cravings during long flights:
- Chew Gum: chewing gum during a long flight can help with the sense of having a different flavour sensation, and can also help with the feeling of having a hand-to-mouth habit
- Nicotine Patch: having these applied to ones arm, or chest can help cease cravings
- Try To Stay Distracted: this is definitely easier said than done, but watching a movie, listening to music or podcasts or reading might help you
