A Beginners Guide To Closed Pod Systems

I bet you’ve heard of something called “closed pod systems”, but possibly had no idea what that meant in the world of vaping. Don’t worry at all, we’re here to help you!

What Is A Closed Pod System?
A closed pod system is a user-friendly vaping device that uses pre-filled, non-refillable e-liquid cartridges (also known as pods). These systems are referred as “closed” because the pods are sealed by the manufacturer and are intended to be disposed of when they are empty of e-liquid.
How Does A Closed Pod System Work?
- The Device: consists of a rechargeable battery

- The Pod: a small cartridge containing pre-filled e-liquid, as well as a built-in heating coil

- Operation: the majority of closed pod systems are draw-activated, meaning that you simply need to inhale from the device in order to trigger the vapour. The device and the pods either connect with magnets such as the LEVEL X pods and device, or with connecting the pod and the device together, such as the STLTH Device “Type C” and Z-Pods.
Benefits Of Closed Pod Systems
- Simplicity: there is no need to prime coils, clean any tanks or deal with the possible messiness of e-liquid refills
- Maintenance- Free: simply charge the battery of the device when the battery is low and replace the pod when it is empty of e-liquid
- Leak Resistance: because the pods are factory-sealed, they are less likely to leak than refillable tanks
- Portability: these devices are compact, lightweight and discreet

Picking Your Puff Count
With the devices listed above, each pod will come with a different puff count. But you’re probably asking, what is a puff count? To put it simply, a puff count is how many puffs or “draws” you can inhale from the pod. Each pod will have a different puff count depending on the manufacturer and the longer the puff (3+ seconds), the faster your pod will run out of e-liquid.
- STLTH, Z-Pods & Hybrid Pods: these pods will have between 1000-2000 puffs
- ePods by Vuse: these pods have about 2000 puffs
- Veev One Pods: these pods have about 2000 puffs as well
- OXBAR Maglink 90K Pods: as advertised, these pods have 90K puffs
- STLTH Loop Pods: these pods have a few different options for puff counts
- STLTH Loop: these pods have 25K puffs
- STLTH Loop Max: these pods range from 50K puffs to 80K puffs
- LEVEL X Pods: these pods range from 25K puffs to 50K puffs
