If you’ve ever been inside a vape shop, you’ve probably heard of something called a “puff count”, but maybe you didn’t fully understand what that meant, or have some questions about it. Well never fear, I’m here to answer some questions you may have had about puff counts!
What Is A Vape Puff Count?
A vape puff count is an estimated number of inhalation cycles (or “puffs”) that a device can provide before the e-liquid runs out.
How Are Puff Counts Measured?
Vape puff counts are measured through Lab Testing!
- manufacturers test vaping devices using automated machine testing under strict, controlled conditions
- standard lab testing typically measure very short, consistent puff (often only 1-2 seconds per puff)
Why Puff Counts May Feel Different Than Real-Time Use
You may be thinking: but I feel like my vape device isn’t lasting the full puff count that is stated on the box?! And there is a reason as to why.
- Puff Duration: taking longer, deeper and more consistent puffs consumes more e-liquid
- Power and Wattage: higher wattage settings or adjustable airflow can use more e-liquid and battery power faster
