The Troubleshooting Clinic: What To Do If Your Pod Tastes Burnt
Posted by Kayleigh Kivell on
So your vape pod has started to taste burnt and you don't know what to do or maybe what caused it. But don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong! Let's talk about burnt pods.
What Is A Burnt Pod?
A burnt vape taste happens when the cotton wick inside the pod dries out or the coil gets clogged with sweetener residue and scorches.
Common Causes
- Low E-Liquid: vaping when the e-liquid level is too low exposes the wick
- No Priming: using a brand new filled pod immediately after filling before the cotton absorbs the liquid
- Chain Vaping: taking too many puffs in a row can prevent the re-saturation of the wick with e-liquid
- Sweet E-Liquids: high sugar e-liquids can leave a sticky residue that caramelizes on the coil

What To Do If Your Pod Is Burnt
- Check E-Liquid Levels: refill the pod with e-liquid if it is low
- Swap The Pod: discard the old burnt pod and install a new one

How To Prevent A Burnt Pod
- Wait & Prime: let new pods sit after filling for 5-10 minutes before your first puff
- Slow Down: wait 30-60 seconds between puffs to let the wick stay wet
